Pembroke Privacy’s AI Literacy training programme is designed to assist organisations to meet the AI literacy requirements set out in the European Union’s AI Act. The programme consists of three core components designed to ensure organizational compliance while fostering a culture of responsible AI use:
This multi-tiered approach ensures compliance with regulatory requirements while building practical AI literacy skills throughout the organization. The strategy prioritizes both understanding regulatory obligations and developing the technical knowledge necessary for responsible AI implementation.
Online foundational training to be offered to all staff members in an organisation.
Intensive IAPP AIGP certification program for AI Governance Officers and Data
Protection Officers
Customised training modules for high-AI-usage departments
The EU AI Act contains several provisions that explicitly mandate AI literacy programs and knowledge requirements.
“Providers and deployers of AI systems shall take measures to ensure, to their best extent, a sufficient level of AI literacy of their staff and other persons dealing with the operation and use of AI systems on their behalf, taking into account their technical knowledge, experience, education and training and the context the AI systems are to be used in, and considering the persons or groups of persons on whom the AI systems are to be used”
Our multi-tiered AI literacy strategy directly addresses these requirements through comprehensive training that builds both regulatory and technical knowledge across the organization.
To provide all staff members with foundational knowledge of AI concepts, regulatory requirements, and ethical considerations in alignment with Articles 4, 9, 16, and 29 of the EU AI Act, which require staff to have “sufficient knowledge, expertise and training” for AI systems.
Delivery Method:
Online, self-paced e-learning hosted on client LMS
Duration:
30 mins (modular format)
Assessment:
Knowledge check quizzes and final certification test (meets Article
9 competence demonstration requirements)
To provide AI Governance Officers and Data Protection Officers with comprehensive knowledge and skills necessary to oversee AI compliance and governance initiatives in accordance with Articles 4, 9, 14, 16, 17, and 29 of the EU AI Act, which require specialized technical competence for risk management and human oversight functions.
Core Curriculum is based on IAPP AI Governance Professional (AIGP) Framework including:
Delivery Method:
Virtual instructor-led training
Duration:
14 hours total (2-day intensive program)
Certification:
IAPP AI Governance Professional (AIGP) certification (fulfils Article 16’s requirement for qualified personnel)
Renewal:

To provide tailored training for departments with high AI utilization, focusing on
specific use cases, risks, and compliance requirements relevant to their functions.
This addresses the requirements in Article 4 AI Literacy, Recital 56 for “appropriate training programs” and Article 14’s mandate for context-specific human oversight competencies.
Department-Specific Modules including for example:Â
Human Resources Department
Marketing Department
Research & Development Department
Delivery Method:
In-person or virtual instructor-led workshops

8 hours per department (typically one full day or two half days)
Frequency:
Initial training plus quarterly updates (2 hours) to maintain state-of-the-art
knowledge (Article 15 requirement)
Assessment:
Practical application exercises and case studies focused on department-specific
human oversight requirements (Article 14)
Documentation:
Completion records maintained as evidence of compliance with Articles 9, 14, and 29
This comprehensive AI literacy Programme will position our clients to meet and exceed the EU AI Act requirements while building internal capacity for responsible AI implementation. By taking a tiered approach that addresses the specific knowledge requirements mandated in Articles 4, 9, 14, 16, 17, and 29 of the Act, we ensure that all client personnel have the appropriate level of understanding to fulfil their obligations.
Regular assessment and continuous improve-ment mechanisms will ensure our clients AI literacy training remains current with evolving regulatory requirements and technological developments, allowing them to maintain compliance while developing practical skills that support ethical and effective AI implementation.
