On the 30th of July, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of US students from the Lex Fellowship programme at our UK office. The Lex Fellowship is an international programme designed for undergraduate students in the US with an interest in law. The Lex programme aims to give students a meaningful outside of the classroom experience that offers greater depth, breadth, and intercultural perspective than a typical internship experience. We recognise the importance of bridging the gap between academic learning and practical experience, and so we were delighted to facilitate this unique opportunity.
The day began with a warm welcome from our team, Anna Burroughs and David Normoyle. The students were coming to the end of their trip and were excited to share their experiences of the UK so far.
The centrepiece of the session was our case study entitled, “The Taylor Swift Fan Club and the Data Breach Dilemma.” The students were divided into small groups, each tasked with analysing the case details, identifying the key issues, and proposing their solutions. Thanks to the student’s excellent advice and swift thinking, Taylor avoided any significant penalties. Whilst we hosted the students in our London office, we made sure our Dublin office was well represented when we finished the session with a packet of Tayto’s each!
Overall, our team were impressed by the student’s enthusiasm, creativity, and fresh perspectives. We are confident that these students have bright futures ahead of them and we look forward to seeing their future successes!
